The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has clarified that the latest directive on the update of vehicle records and duty status is not mandatory for all motorists.
In response to concerns by motorists, NTSA stated that the exercise should only be undertaken by car owners whose details are not up to date or incorrect.
"If the duty status is correct and all the vehicle details/records are in order, a motor vehicle owner does not have to request an update," read the statement in part.
Additionally, NTSA maintained that the process to update the records and duty status is free for those undertaking the process.
There is also no deadline for the directive that was announced on Tuesday, July 29.
