The Central Bank of Kenya has revealed the interest rates charged by banks on loans for April 2026.
According to the data published on Thursday, June 4, the average interest rate for loans dropped to 14.69% in April 2026 as compared to 14.70% in March 2026.
In April, Citibank N.A Kenya offered the cheapest loan with an interest rate of 10.80%, followed by Standard Chartered Bank Kenya Limited at 11.64%.
The other banks in the top five were Habib Bank A.G Zurich (12.61%), Stanbic Bank Kenya Limited (12.70%) and Guardian Bank Limited (13.43%).
Conversely, Credit Bank has the most expensive loans with an interest rate of 17.83%.
The other banks with the most expensive loans were Kingdom Bank Limited (16.74%), HFC (17.07%), SBM Bank Kenya (17.53%), Bank of Africa Kenya (17.55%) and Access Bank Kenya (17.59%).

African Banking Corporation Limited is offering the highest rate at 11.01%, followed by Credit Bank PLC at 10.88% and Development Bank of Kenya at 9.76%. Other lenders among the top performers include Middle East Bank at 9.30% and Kingdom Bank at 9.08%.
At the lower end of the market, Standard Chartered Bank Kenya offers the lowest rate at 3.02%, followed by Citibank N.A Kenya at 4.18% and NCBA Bank Kenya at 4.99%. UBA Kenya Bank offers 5.38%, while HFC provides 5.99%
