List of Roads the Govt Plans to Construct in the 2026/27 Budget 

The National Treasury has plans to undertake the construction of more than 30 major roads across the country.

As detailed in the 2026/27 Budget Estimates, the State Department for Roads will be allocated Ksh176 billion to facilitate the construction of roads and other infrastructure, including bridges.

Of the Ksh176 billion, Ksh84 billion will come from the Exchequer, while Ksh92 billion will be sourced through Appropriations in Aid, which includes grants and loans from various financial institutions.

Among the major road projects set to receive funding are the Mau Mau Roads, which have been allocated Ksh1.05 billion.

Other projects include the Mombasa-Mariakani Highway, which will receive Ksh3.69 billion in funding.

The Ngong Road–Naivasha Road Interchange project has been allocated Ksh300 million, while the Lang'ata (Galleria–Karen)–Dagoretti Road Dualling Project will receive Ksh120 million.

  1. Mombasa-Mariakani Highway – 7 km – Ksh3.6 billion 
  2. Mombasa - Mtwapa - 3 km - Ksh2.3 billion
  3. Talanta Stadium Roads - 3 km - Ksh175 million
  4. Bomas-Ongata Rongai-Kiserian Road Dualling (Design) - Ksh350 million
  5. Ngong Road-Naivasha Road Interchange – 2 km – Ksh300 million.
  6. Mau Mau Road Lot 1B (Kiambu) - 1.5 km - Ksh242 million
  7. Mau Mau Road Lot 1A (Kiambu) - 1.5 km - Ksh228 million
  8. Mau Mau Road Lot 2 (Muranga) - 2 km - Ksh337 million
  9. Mau Mau Road Lot 3 ( Nyeri) - 2 km - Ksh248 million
  10. Dualling Thika - Kenol - Marua Lot 1 (Kenol- Sagana Section) - 0.5 km - Ksh100 million
  11. Dualling Thika - Kenol - Marua Lot 2 (Sagana - Marua Section) - 1 km - Ksh200 million
  12. Limuru Road Dualling – 2 km – Ksh90 million.
  13. Thika Town Road - 2km - Ksh80.4 million
  14. Greater Eastern Bypass – 2 km – Ksh231 million.
  15. Ruiru-Githunguri-Uplands Road – 2 km – Ksh199.4 million.
  16. Lang'ata (Galleria-Karen)-Dagoretti Road Dualling – 2 km – Ksh120 million.
  17. Athi River-Ongata Rongai-Matasia-Ngong Link – 2 km – Ksh105 million.
  18. Ngong Phase IV-Karen Junction-Ngong Town Dualling – 1.5 km – Ksh150 million.
  19. Nairobi Eastern Bypass Dualling – 0.5 km – Ksh21.7 million.
  20. Mlolongo-Athi River-Joska - 3km - Ksh18 million
  21. Kahawa Sukari Eastern Access Roads - 1km - Ksh17 million
  22. Thika-Magumu Road – 1 km – Ksh25.7 million.
  23. Isinya - Konza - 3 km - Ksh300 million.
  24. Acacia Road-Kitengela Bypass - 1 km - Ksh90 million.
  25. Nakuru North Bypass: Nyahururu B5 - Kabarak (B4) - A104 - Njoro (C56) – 1.5 km – Ksh40 million.
  26. Kisumu-Miwani-Chemelil-Muhoroni Road – 5 km – Ksh794 million
  27. Othaya - Karima - Kiandu - 3 km - Ksh19 million
  28. Lamu-Ijara-Garissa Road (A10) – 5 km – Ksh748 million
  29. Kitale-Morpus Road – 8 km – Ksh3 billion
  30. Barpello-Tot-Sigor-Marich Pass Road – 7 km – Ksh1.3 billion
  31. Elwak-Rhamu Road – 6 km – Ksh620 million.
  32. Samatar-Wajir Road – 5 km – Ksh475 million.
  33. Garissa-Isiolo Road (A10) – 2.5 km – Ksh472.7 million.
  34. Illasit-Njukini-Taveta Road – 6 km – Ksh420 million.
  35. Isebania-Mukuyu-Kisii-Ahero Road -1.5 km - Ksh395 million.
  36. Lesseru-Kitale Road – 6 km – Ksh390 million 
  37. Kibwezi-Mutomo-Kitui Road (B7) – 3 km – Ksh295.1 million.
  38. Lungalunga-Kinango-Kwale Road (B92) – 1 km – Ksh153.5 million.
  39. Rumuruti-Mararal Road – 2 km – Ksh150 million.
  40. Marsabit-Shegel Road (B7) – 1.5 km – Ksh118.3 million.
  41. Kisii Bypass Phase II – 1.5 km – Ksh42.3 million.
  42. Morpus-Kainuk Road – 3 km – Ksh405 million.
  43. Kainuk-Lokichar Road – 3.5 km – Ksh325 million.
