Students who believe they've been placed in the wrong funding model band can appeal for a change through a Ministry of Education portal, according to Education CS Julius Migos.

“We have created a portal where we have allowed the students to appeal so that if you have data or information to show that you have been put in the wrong band, your issue can be rectified,” he affirmed.
While addressing the International Confederation of Principals on Tuesday 20th August 2024, the CS highlighted that the new model is designed to cater to students with different financial capacities.
He noted that the ministry had taken into consideration the concerns that were raised concerning the new model.
“The funding model has been in existence for 29 years, the only thing that has changed is that the needs of testing instruments were adjusted and reviewed to ensure that those children who need the government support benefit most from the government funds,” he explained.

"The Ministry of Education wishes to inform all students who have qualified for university admission that they are guaranteed a place in their chosen institutions, irrespective of their ability to immediately pay the household contribution. Vice-Chancellors of public universities have therefore been directed to admit all qualified students without exception," read the notice in part.
This came after the speaker of the National Assembly Moses Wetangula ordered Education PS Beatrice Inyangala to release a statement making it clear that no student would be expelled from a university for failing to pay their tuition.
During his appearance in the National Assembly, Inyangala clarified that the state ought to issue a directive prohibiting VCs from ejecting students along with their parents.
