EPRA Announces October Fuel Prices

The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has maintained the prices of fuel in its October-November review.

As a result,  Super Petrol will retail at Ksh184.52 while Diesel retails at Ksh171.47 in Nairobi. Kerosene will retail at Ksh154.78 effective midnight for the next 30 days.

"In the period under review, the maximum allowed petroleum pump prices for Super Petrol, Diesel, and Kerosene remain unchanged.

"The prices are inclusive of the 16% Value Added Tax (VAT) in line with the provisions of the Finance Act 2023, the Tax Laws (Amendment) Act 2024, and the revised rates for excise duty adjusted for inflation as per Legal Notice No. 194 of 2020," read the notice in part.

In Mombasa, Super Petrol will retail at Ksh181.24 while a litre of Diesel will go for Ksh168.19.

Nakuru motorists will spend Ksh183.56 on a litre of Super Petrol and Ksh170.87 on a litre of Diesel.

Meanwhile, in Eldoret a litre of Super Petrol was capped at Ksh184.38 while a litre of Diesel was capped 171.68.

Kisumu residents will be spending Ksh184.37 on Super Petrol and Ksh171.68 on Diesel.

EPRA attributed the move to maintain the prices to minimal changes in the landed costs and the exchange rate.

For instance, the average landed cost of imported Super Petrol decreased by 0.10% from US$620.84 per cubic metre in August 2025 to US$620.24 per cubic metre in September 2025.

Conversely, the landed cost for Diesel increased by 1.57% from US$614.08 per cubic metre to US$623.75 per cubic metre while Kerosene increased by 2.97% from US$609.59 per cubic metre to US$627.72 per cubic metre over the same period.

Meanwhile, the exchange rate moved from Ksh129.62 in August 2025 to Ksh129.52 in September 2025.

"The purpose of the Petroleum Pricing Regulations is to cap the retail prices petroleum products which are already in the country so that importation and other prudently incurred costs are recovered while ensuring reasonable prices to consumers," the authority added.
