
The Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) has released the lending interest rates that commercial banks charged on loans for the month of September 2025, highlighting the varying cost of credit across the banking sector.
According to the data published by the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) on Friday, October 31, Citibank N.A Kenya offered the lowest lending rate at 9.60%, making it the most affordable bank for borrowers during the period. Stanbic Bank Kenya followed at 11.98%, while Standard Chartered Bank Kenya charged 12.73%.
Ecobank Kenya Limited set its lending rate at 13.10%, Guardian Bank Limited at 13.53%, and Habib Bank A.G Zurich at 13.72%. Consolidated Bank of Kenya Limited and ABSA Bank Kenya PLC recorded lending rates of 13.89% and 13.90% respectively.
Gulf African Bank Limited and Paramount Bank Limited both charged 14.35%, while Bank of India set its rate at 14.72%. Prime Bank Limited recorded a rate of 14.85%, Bank of Baroda (Kenya) Limited at 14.90%, and both M-Oriental Bank Limited and Equity Bank Kenya Limited at 14.92%. Premier Bank Kenya Limited closely followed at 14.97%.
Diamond Trust Bank Kenya Limited charged 15.09%, Victoria Commercial Bank PLC 15.28%, and KCB Bank Kenya Limited 15.48%. Kingdom Bank Limited recorded 15.75%, UBA Kenya Bank Limited 15.83%, and NCBA Bank Kenya PLC along with Co-operative Bank of Kenya Limited, both charged 15.90%.
National Bank of Kenya Limited posted a lending rate of 15.92%, while Guaranty Trust Bank (Kenya) Limited charged 15.96% and Family Bank Limited 15.99%.
I&M Bank Limited recorded a rate of 16.11%, African Banking Corporation Limited 16.40%, and Development Bank of Kenya Limited 16.64%.
DIB Bank Kenya Limited charged 16.76%, Sidian Bank Limited 17.51%, and SBM Bank Kenya Limited 17.82%. Bank of Africa Kenya Limited registered one of the highest rates at 17.89%.
Those with the highest rates were Commercial International Bank (CIB) Kenya Limited at 18.07%, HFC at 18.58%, Middle East Bank (K) Limited at 18.82%, Credit Bank PLC at 19.41% and Access Bank (Kenya) PLC – 19.51%
