NYS Announces Countrywide Mass Recruitment 

The National Youth Service (NYS) has launched a nationwide push to recruit eligible Kenyans into its 2022 cohort.

In an advertisement in local publications on Tuesday, August 16, the service says it is looking for both male and female volunteers to join the NYS program.

The recruitment exercise which will be held throughout the country will begin on Monday, August 29, and will go through Saturday, September 3, in compliance with the qualifications outlined below.

Eligibility Requirements for NYS Recruitment

All prospective candidates who intend to join the Kenya National Youth Service must meet the following requirements:

1. You must be a Kenyan citizen living in the county where you are being recruited.
2. A medical checkup is required both during and after the recruitment procedure.
3. Be willing to volunteer to assist the country in any Kenyan region.
4. Be prepared to engage in strenuous physical activity.
5. Show your original national identification (ID) card and academic certificates; (and avail a single set of photocopies of these documents at the hiring centre.)
6. Certificate of good conduct.
7. You must be between the ages of 18 and 24 to apply.
8. Have a KCSE average of D or higher.
9. Successful candidates will report for the NYS Basic Paramilitary Training Course at NYS College, Gilgil and NYS TTI Naivasha on the dates and times specified in the appropriate call-up notices to be issued.

Special Considerations

Orphans who match the prerequisites outlined above will receive special consideration, provided they can produce appropriate documentary verification, such as death certificates for their parents or burial permits.

Additionally, individuals with disabilities are encouraged to participate in the recruitment process in their particular sub-counties.

Any form of corruption is NOT tolerated in NYS.

An offence that can result in disqualification and/or punishment is canvassing and offering money or another kind of payment in exchange for admittance.
