1. Diani Beach

Diani Beach is consistently ranked among Africa’s top beach destinations, thanks to its white sands, luxury resorts, and vibrant beach culture. It’s the ideal place for both relaxation and adventure.

Activities to enjoy at Diani Beach include jet skiing, kite surfing, paddle boarding, kayaking, skydiving at Diani, camel rides along the beach, boat excursions and beach dining, nightlife, and entertainment
Diani Beach is also known for its upscale restaurants, beach bars, and spas that offer a complete holiday experience. Whether you’re on a backpacker budget or a luxury escape, Diani caters to all.

Indicative costs:

  • Beach access: Free (public beach)
  • Jet skiing: Approx. Ksh1,500 to Ksh24,000
  • Skydiving: Approximately Ksh45,000 
  • Camel rides: Ksh500–1,500

2. Kisite-Mpunguti Marine National Park

Located on the southern coast near Shimoni, the park is renowned for dolphin watching, coral reefs, exotic fish species, sea turtles, and crystal-clear blue waters that make it a paradise for snorkeling and diving enthusiasts.

The activities to enjoy include dolphin watching, snorkeling, scuba diving, swimming, and bird watching.

KWS Marine Park entry fee is Ksh500 for adults and Ksh250 for children

3. Wasini Island

A visit to Kisite-Mpunguti often includes a stop at Wasini Island, but it is also a destination on its own for cultural and relaxation experiences.

Visitors can stroll through the village, interact with locals, explore Swahili culture, and enjoy delicious seafood meals while overlooking the ocean. The island also has boardwalks and nature trails that support local conservation projects and offer breathtaking views of the ocean, mangroves, and coral formations.

Other activities include cultural village tours, mangrove boardwalk tours, nature walks, and coral garden visits.

The costs for the island tour ranged from  Ksh1,000–2,500 per person.

4. Shimba Hills National Reserve

Located just 45 minutes from Diani, this forested reserve is home to elephants, giraffes, antelopes, buffalo, monkeys, and over 100 species of birds. It is also the only place in Kenya where you can find the endangered Sable Antelope.

Shimba Hills is perfect for nature lovers, hikers, safari enthusiasts, and those looking for a scenic adventure surrounded by greenery. 

Being managed by KWS, the entry charges are Ksh300 for adults and Ksh125 for children.

5. Kaya Kinondo Forest

Kaya Kinondo Sacred Forest is an outstanding cultural and spiritual attraction. Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the forest holds deep cultural significance for the Digo people and serves as a preserved heritage site representing centuries-old traditions, rituals, and conservation practices.

Visitors are guided through the forest while learning about the spiritual beliefs of the Kaya elders, traditional healing plants, ancient rituals, and the community’s efforts to preserve their culture. The forest offers a calm, reflective, and educational nature experience.

Activities to enjoy include guided cultural and heritage tours and nature walks. Guided tours are approximated to be about Ksh1,000–2,000 per person
