KUCCPS Allows Past KCSE Students to Apply for University on Govt Scholarship

Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has opened an instant placement portal for KCSE candidates who qualified for university admission but missed out on placement.

The new platform allows eligible students from the 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025 KCSE cohorts to apply for available university courses and receive instant placement once their application is successful.

The initiative marks the first time KUCCPS has allowed qualified candidates from previous KCSE years who were never placed to obtain immediate university admission.

Successful applicants will also be eligible to apply for government scholarships, Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) loans and other financial support under the Higher Education Financing Model.

KUCCPS CEO Dr Agnes Wahome said the platform was introduced after the agency established that many students who qualify for university admission never submit placement applications.

She noted that only about 85 per cent of eligible candidates apply for placement every year, leaving thousands of qualified students without university admission despite meeting the entry requirements.

"We are calling on all Form Four leavers from 2022 to 2025 who scored C+ and above but missed university placement not to remain behind. Eligible applicants are now receiving instant placement through the KUCCPS portal," she stated.

Who Qualifies for the KUCCPS Instant Placement?

To qualify, applicants must:

1. Be a Kenyan citizen.
2. Have sat KCSE in 2022, 2023, 2024 or 2025.
3. Have attained a minimum grade of C+ (Plus).
4. Meet the subject requirements for the preferred degree programme.
5. Have not previously benefited from KUCCPS university placement.

However, students who were previously placed in Teachers Training Colleges (TTCs), Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) or Kenya School of Law (KSL) are still eligible to apply for degree programmes through the portal.

How to Apply 

Eligible applicants can complete the application by following these steps:

1. Visit the KUCCPS student portal: students.kuccps.ac.ke 
2. Log in using your KCSE Index Number, KCSE year and password.
3. Browse the available degree programmes.
4. Select a course for which you meet the minimum subject requirements.
5. Submit your application.
6. Once successful, download your instant placement letter.
