List of Banks and Their Interest Rates for Loans and Deposits [August 2025]

The average lending rate by banks in August 2025 stood at 15.17%, recording a marginal drop from 15.24%  which was the average in July 2024.

Citibank N.A Kenya had the cheapest loans, having an interest rate of 10.85% followed by Stanbic Bank Kenya Limited, which had an interest rate of 12.39%.

The other banks with the cheapest loans were Standard Chartered Bank Kenya Limited (12.74%), Ecobank Kenya Limited (12.96%), Guardian Bank Limited (13.63%), and Consolidated Bank of Kenya Limited (13.90%).

Conversely, Access Bank had the most expensive loans in August, with an interest rate of 19.79%.

Credit Bank had an interest rate of 19.44% while UBA Bank Kenya Limited had an interest rate of 18.54%.

Deposit Interest Rates for Banks in August 2025

On the other hand, Kenyans who keep money in the banks continued to earn less returns, with the average interest rates dropping from 8.07% to 7.79%

The interest rates on deposits have been dropping since the beginning of the year. The highest rates were in March at 9.33%
