The Central Bank of Kenya has announced the issuance of operational licences to 42 digital lenders, bringing the total number of Digital Credit Providers (DCP) in the country to 195.
Among the new licensed lenders are Acquire Credit Limited, Adjacent Possible Finance Limited, Aleza Limited, ASA International Kenya Limited, Auxiliary Credit Ltd, BCF Kenya Limited, Bidii Credit Limited, Bingwa Micro Capital Limited, Blesmark Credit Limited, and Boostline Capital Limited.
Cashmart Capital Limited, Dotcash Credit Limited, Edenbridge Capital Ltd, Fincredit Limited, Geoland Credit Limited, Guava Capital Limited, Jackfruit Associates Limited, Jafari Credit Limited, Jambofin Credit Limited, and Juhudi Kilimo Company Limited were also licensed.
The other lenders were Keep Vision and Growth Credit Limited, Liberty Afrika Technologies Ltd, Lucason Capital Limited, Maison Capital Limited, Malicash Investment Limited, Mimi Credit Limited, and MKash Solutions Limited.
CBK also gave green light to Pato Capital Limited, Peshee Capital Limited, Real People Kenya Limited, Rosatap Credit Limited, Seanala Credit Limited, Select Management Services Limited, and Snowflex Capital Limited.
Onwards Swift Company Limited, Tazu Credit Limited, Transsnet Credit Limited, TrustGro SCA Limited, Vision Edge Credit Partners Limited, Wakanda Credit Limited, Westlip Credit Limited, and Ziki Credit Limited were also licensed.
According to the CBK, many Kenyans rely on these digital platforms to access business loans, education loans, and personal loans.
As of November 2025, 6.6 million loans valued at Ksh109.8 billion had been processed.
Meanwhile, Kenyans were advised to be on the lookout for digital lenders that have not yet been licensed.
"DCPs predominantly carry out their lending activities digitally, including through Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD) codes. Loan products include education loans, development loans, short-term personal loans, asset financing, and business loans," read the statement in part.
"Reports by the public on unregulated DCPs can be sent through dcps@centralbank.go.ke. The licensing and oversight of DCPs, as indicated previously, was precipitated by concerns raised by the public about the predatory practices of the unregulated DCPs, and in particular, their high cost, unethical debt collection practices, and the abuse of personal information."
