
The Public Service Commission (PSC) has announced 125 vacancies across the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Interior.
Among the vacancies announced by PSC on Tuesday, July 21 are foreign service cadets, hospitality officer positions, and instructors in various technical fields.
At the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, PSC is seeking to recruit 100 foreign service cadets.
The positions are entry-level and target graduates with a Bachelor's degree in disciplines such as international relations, diplomacy, international law, political science, public administration, public policy, economics, law, ICT, communication/media studies, development studies, environmental studies, among others.
The salary scale of these officers is Ksh36,200 to Ksh47,900 per month, a house allowance of up to Ksh10,000 and a commuter allowance of Ksh4,000 per month.
“During the period, the officer will undertake the Foreign Service Entry Course at the Foreign Service Institute lasting not less than three (3) months. Duties and responsibilities will include participating in and reporting on meetings with foreign diplomats and/or dignitaries and preparing reports
The duties also include undertaking guided research on foreign service issues; drafting briefs, speeches and diplomatic notes and messages and performing general protocol duties,” read the advert in part.

PSC is also recruiting 20 Instructor officers under the State Department for Correctional Services. The vacancies are spread across catering and hospitality management, clothing technology/textile, tannery and leather works, hair dressing and beauty therapy/cosmetology, welding and fabrication, building and civil engineering, plumbing, and carpentry and joinery.
Applicants must have a Diploma in Technical Education in the relevant field or a Diploma in the specific technical discipline required for the advertised position.
Successful candidates will earn a basic salary of Ksh30,400 to Ksh38,880 per month, a house allowance of up to Ksh6,750 and a commuter allowance of Ksh4,000 per month.
According to the advert, successful applicants will be responsible for undertaking training in their areas of specialisation, preparing teaching materials and schemes of work, setting and marking examinations, conducting research under the guidance of senior trainers, and supervising trainees' projects and practical work.

At the Ministry of Interior and National Administration, the PSC is seeking to recruit five Hospitality Officer II officers under the State Department for Correctional Services.
The positions target graduates with a Bachelor's degree in Hotel and Catering Management, Hotel and Hospitality Management, Hospitality and Tourism Management, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or Hospitality Management from a recognised university.
Successful candidates will earn a basic salary of Ksh36,200 to Ksh47,900 per month, a house allowance of up to Ksh10,000 and a commuter allowance of Ksh4,000 per month.
"An officer at this level may be deployed in the housekeeping, kitchen or service area. Duties will include ensuring efficient management of hospitality services, supervising staff, monitoring performance, reviewing menus, carrying out training needs assessments and ensuring adherence to standard operating procedures," the advert states.
