CBK Issues Licenses to 25 New Digital Lenders [LIST]

The Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) issued licences to 25 new  Digital Credit Providers (DCPs), raising the total number of licensed digital lenders in the country to 252.

Among those who were issued with licences in July 2026 are Baraka Credit Limited, Bashy African Credit Limited, Centenary Micro Enterprise Services Ltd, Equal Reach Credit Limited, Eversure Credit Limited, Glad Agritech Kenya Limited, Hawkins Credit Limited and Jiweze Credit Limited.

KalTris Limited, KN Global Services Limited, Lin-Cap Limited, Nirvana Credit Limited, Onward Digital Company Limited, Pesakay Credit Limited, Rapidcash Ventures Limited, and Rukisha Solutions Limited were also issued with licences.

CBK also granted operational licences to Signature Capital Limited, Solvezy Technology Kenya Limited, Statim Capital Limited, Stemtide Credit Limited, Stepwise Credit Limited, Transventures Capital Limited, Trinmarc Ventures Limited, Visionfund Kenya Limited and WeLend Limited.

“CBK has received more than 800 applications since March 2022 and has worked closely with the applicants in reviewing their applications. The focus of the engagements with DCPs has been inter alia on business models, consumer protection and fitness and propriety of proposed shareholders, directors, and management. 

“This is to ensure adherence to the relevant laws and, importantly, that the interests of customers are safeguarded. We acknowledge the efforts of the applicants and the support of other regulators and agencies in this process,” read the statement in part.

According to CBK, as of May 2026, licensed DCPs had issued more than 8.37 million loans worth Ksh150.56 billion. 

Meanwhile, CBK warned the digital lenders against predatory behaviours such as unethical debt collection practices and excessive interest charges.
